Orwell wrote about fiction about a devastated Europe during World War II. Animal Farm is an allegory about Russia; 1984 reflects the politics of Fascism/Communism on the European worker.
In Animal Farm, the pigs take over the farm after they oust the owner. They impose increasingly stringent rules on the farm animals and eventually some animals wish for the farmer to retake the farm. 1984 introduces mass brainwashing techniques that the oligarchs use to control the proles.
A master of dystopian literature, Orwell served the interest of the lower class in England.
